What college in or around Texas offers a good business course as a major?

I live in South East Texas but could go farther out, even an out of state college. I intend to open, own, and manage my own business (cafe). I’m not exactly sure what field I would be searching aside from business management/ownership. If anyone knows of a good college or university, I would very much appreciate suggestions.

If you’ve gone to it and taken business, I love random chats. Please do offer to discuss it with me.

I would suggest looking into a degree in entrepreneurship. Entrepreneurship majors will focus on the creation of a new business, running it, etc. Baylor University in Waco has the number 2 ranked entrepreneurship program in the country and is one of the best schools in the state and country (top 100). The University of Houston’s entrepreneurship program is the number 1 program, but academics there in general tend to be a bit hit and miss and it has a reputation for being a commuter school. Baylor’s program is also smaller and has great academics across the board. The only thing going against Baylor is the town, as Waco isn’t the most exciting place to spend four years of your life. Anybody with some creativity can usually figure out a way to stay entertained, though, and I personally had a good time there. I’ll link you to both programs, and if you ever want to find out more about Baylor you can definitely send me a message.

No need to leave Texas, since McCombs at University of Texas – Austin is one of the best business schools in the world. If you can get in to McCombs I would certainly consider going, it is a great school.
